Midagri: 97% of Hass avocados produced in Peru come from small producers

The Ministry of Agrarian and Irrigation Development (Midagri) reported that 97% of the Hass avocados produced by Peru come from small producers with less than five hectares, who are being provided assistance through pest control programs and timely certification of their fields. "Throughout these years, the articulated work developed between the National Agricultural Health Service (Senasa) and our producers in various regions has been fundamental to positioning the country as the second largest Hass avocado exporter in the world. Therefore, it is important to continue increasing commercial opportunities for Peruvian products, with access to new international markets," said the head of Midagri, Angel Manero.
