The National Agricultural Health Service (SENASA) of Peru announced the approval of phytosanitary requirements for the import of Peruvian mangoes to South Africa, a significant breakthrough for the industry. This development, following extensive technical meetings, opens up a new market for over 7,000 Peruvian producers in Piura, Lambayeque, and Ancash departments. In the past decade, SENASA has successfully gained access to four new markets, including South Africa, expanding the reach of Peruvian mangoes to 64 international markets. The export season runs from October to May, with the Kent variety being the most popular for export. This achievement aligns with the goals of the Second Agrarian Reform, emphasizing integrated work, health crop protection, and new market access negotiations for various agricultural products.
