September 2024 saw a 6 million litre increase in milk supplied to processors and co-ops compared to the same month in 2023, with the domestic milk intake estimated at 769.6 million litres. However, the total milk intake from January to September 2024 decreased by 4.1% compared to the same period in 2023. The fat and protein content of milk also increased, while butter production marginally rose by 500 tonnes, but skimmed milk powder production decreased by 1,700 tonnes. The European Commission reported a slight increase in cow’s milk collection in the EU for the first eight months of 2024, despite a 1.4% decrease in EU milk supplies in August 2024.
