Vietnam's southern provinces and the Central Highlands are experiencing challenges in consuming and exporting an abundance of agricultural and aquatic products due to the COVID-19 pandemic and local social distancing measures. The region is in the middle of a fruit harvest season and has surplus poultry, eggs, seafood, and pork, prompting Minister Nguyen Hong Dien to suggest the government buy and store 4 million tons of rice for regional farmers. The minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development have urged localities not to regulate goods circulation and stressed on the importance of maintaining quality in agricultural products to compete in the export market. Additionally, local enterprises were advised to develop a standardized production management process, optimize logistics, use technology for price stabilization, and implement traceability QR codes.
