According to statistics from the Customs Department (Ministry of Finance), as of the end of September 2025, Vietnam has exported 186,503 tons of various types of pepper, with a turnover of nearly 1.27 billion USD. Compared to the same period last year, the export of this commodity, likened to "black gold," decreased by 7.1% in volume but increased sharply by 27.8% in value. The reason is that the average export price of pepper has increased sharply by 37.6%, reaching 6,787 USD/ton. Thanks to this, even though there are still 3 months left to end the year, the export value for the first 9 months has almost equaled the entire year of 2024 (1.3 billion USD). Notably, the export of pepper to major markets has decreased in volume but increased in value. Specifically, the export to the U.S. market in the first 9 months of 2025 reached 41.8 thousand tons, bringing in 312.3 million USD, a decrease of 28.2% in volume but an increase of 4.3% in value.
