Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, has defended the country's seed production sector at the 8th 'International Seed Congress', emphasizing that 97 out of 100 seeds used in the nation are domestically produced. He dismissed allegations of reliance on Israeli seeds, stating that Turkey does not purchase seeds from Israel. The ministry has implemented policies to improve seed quality and yield, including breeding programs for seeds that can withstand various climate conditions. These efforts have led to a 9-fold increase in seed production over the past 22 years, contributing to the national economy. The ministry is planning to implement all necessary legislation by 2025 in collaboration with the sector.
