Ministry announces exceptional support for some livestock activities in Portugal

The press release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food announcing this Ordinance mentions the following: “This support is intended for producers in the agricultural sector who were most directly affected by the constraints arising from the war in Ukraine. The allocation, which aims to promote the economic sustainability of agricultural production, the maintenance of its activity and the ability to supply the market, will be distributed as follows: - Poultry sector – 4.4 million euros; - Pork sector – 6.4 million euros; - Cow's milk sector – 13.5 million euros The decision to apply this support to the aforementioned sectors took into account the greater impact of the increase in the costs of production factors recorded since the beginning of the war, namely animal feed, energy and fertilizers, as well as the support that is being be applied in the Member States of the European Union that are geographically closer and that compete in the same markets as Portugal.
