Ministry of Agriculture: Barley exports from Kazakhstan increase significantly

The growth in exports is mainly due to the season's barley production reaching 3.84 million tons, along with rising demand for Kazakh grains from Iran and China, as well as the international market competitiveness of the country's barley.

Specific data shows that Kazakhstan exported 1.064 million tons of barley to Iran this year, nearly 30 times the amount exported during the same period last year; 414,400 tons were exported to China, and 125,200 tons to Uzbekistan.

The growth in exports has also driven up domestic market prices. In September 2024, barley prices ranged between 50,000 and 52,000 tenge per ton, stabilizing between 85,000 and 87,000 tenge by the end of August 2025.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the total barley exports for the 2024-2025 sales year are expected to reach 1.9 million tons.

Additionally, according to data provided by Kazakhstan Railways, as of September 2024 to July 2025, Kazakhstan has cumulatively exported 12.4 million tons of grain and flour, a 34% increase from the 9.3 million tons exported during the same period last year.
