(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Yoon-gu = The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 19th that the 'Together Creating K-Agricultural Policy Deliberation Body' has been launched.
The deliberation body was established to form social consensus and empathy regarding the new government's policy agenda, discuss and supplement additional tasks, and secure the driving force for the promotion of agricultural policy by devising implementation plans. It will operate until the end of this year.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has organized the deliberation body into five divisions and ten sub-divisions based on the policy agenda, including food and distribution, future agriculture and exports, rural areas, agricultural and livestock management, and animal welfare, and has appointed a total of over 130 members as commissioners, including farmers and organizations, experts, consumer groups, local governments, and related agencies.
At the launch ceremony of the deliberation body held at the Government Sejong Convention Center on the same day, the commissioners were awarded their appointments and the main contents of the policy agenda published by the National Policy Planning Committee were shared. In addition, division representatives were selected and key discussion topics were chosen.
To incorporate the voices of young farmers who will lead the future of agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs appointed a young farmer as the co-chair of the deliberation body.
Ryu Jin-ho, the President of the Korea 4-H Young Farmers Association, who serves as the co-chair of the deliberation body with Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryung, is a young farmer who graduated from the Department of Fruit Science at the National Fisheries University of Korea in 2017 and manages a yuzu farm in Goheung, Jeonnam.
Minister Song said, "We will innovate agricultural policy to match the new government's policy philosophy and create results that can be felt by the people and farmers" and "While concretizing the new government's agricultural policy, we will expand the participation of on-site farmers and listen to the voices of various sectors."
