The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Song Mi-ryeong, hereinafter referred to as the Agricultural Ministry) and the Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jung Ki-hwan, hereinafter referred to as the Racing Authority) announced that they will establish a "Horse Protection Monitoring Center" at the Racing Authority's Sejong office on the 18th to minimize blind spots in horse welfare and support swift reporting and on-site response to abuse and neglect of horse breeding facilities.
The establishment of this "Horse Protection Monitoring Center" is one of the implementation measures for the "Horse Welfare Improvement Plan" announced by the Agricultural Ministry on April 30th, and the Agricultural Ministry and Racing Authority will centralize reporting of horse abuse incidents previously received through various channels to the monitoring center.
