The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (Minister Hyun-soo Kim) and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT, President Kim Chun-jin) have initiated cold chain transportation services in Thailand to support the distribution of temperature-sensitive fresh agricultural products, aligning with the growing export demand, which has seen a 13% annual increase over the past three years, surpassing $200 million in 2020. This initiative aims to address the logistical challenges in maintaining the cold chain, particularly with the surge in popularity of Korean food products like kimchi, tteokbokki, and chicken. The services will be extended to more Thai regions, and data will be used for targeted marketing. Additionally, 18 joint logistics centers are in operation in key New Southern region countries, supporting Korean agri-food importers. This expansion aims to further penetrate the Baht economic zone market, including Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos, by improving the cold chain infrastructure for perishable goods.
