[Kim Jeong-min, Korea Farmers' News] Gimje City in Jeonbuk Province (Mayor Jeong-ju) has been finally selected for the 'Soybean Self-Reliant Integrated Complex Creation Project', which was organized by the Rural Development Administration. Gimje City plans to invest 2 billion won from 2026 to 2027 to establish a regional self-reliant soybean industry model that links production to distribution. This project aims to create a stable supply base and increase the self-sufficiency rate by linking the entire process of domestic soybean production, processing, and distribution. As of this year, Gimje City boasts the largest soybean cultivation area in the country at 7,200 hectares, and its high-quality soybean production base is the subject of benchmarking by farmers across the nation every year.
