The Food and Drug Safety Agency (FDSA) of South Korea has signed a agreement with the Peruvian National Institute for Fisheries Health (SANIPES) to enhance the local safety management of locally sourced Peruvian agricultural products. Set to begin on January 13 of the next year, this agreement requires the exporting country to ensure health safety from the production phase and issue health certification. If a product is deemed unsuitable, import will be suspended and an investigation will be conducted in collaboration with the Peruvian government. The FDSA will register companies that meet these health management standards and require health certification for each product at the point of import. The agreement currently covers ten countries, with products accounting for 80% of total imports. The FDSA plans to continue entering into such agreements to further enhance import safety management.
