The Moldova Fruct Association has revised its estimate of this year's apple harvest to approximately 505,000 tons, lower than the previous estimate of 548,000 tons due to the lack of rainfall. The processing industry has already purchased 250,000 tons of apples and is expected to process 270,000 tons, with 50,000 tons to be sold fresh on the local market. The war in Ukraine and Russia's embargo on Moldovan fruit have led to a shift in apple exports to new markets such as the Persian Gulf countries, EU countries, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
