Moldova to extend grain import licensing regime until end of 2025

The import of corn, wheat and sunflower to Moldova will be subject to mandatory licensing until December 31, 2025. This decision was made by the government of the republic at a meeting this week. Licensing is extended as support for domestic agricultural producers. “In the regional market, where large offers and low prices prevail, it is extremely important to avoid distortions and maintain the competitiveness of national agriculture,” Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Lyudmila Katlabuga said at the meeting. The Ministry of Agriculture reported that they predict a “significant harvest” of the aforementioned crops this year, since as of early June 2025, the crops are in good vegetation conditions.
