In December 2023, Moldova exported over 7.5 thousand tons of apples for $4.5 million, the lowest December exports in the past five years. Despite a ban on imports from Russia, nearly half of the exported apples went to the Russian market, with other major buyers including Romania, Saudi Arabia, UAE, India, and Israel. Overall, Moldova's apple exports for the 2023 harvest were the weakest in the five-year period, with the country producing an estimated 500-510 thousand tons of apples in the same year.
