Moldovan farmers are skeptical about business prospects for late blackberries

The blackberry sales season is coming to an end in Moldova. In city markets you can still find single offers of this berry in microscopic wholesale and retail. Farmers claim that even on small blackberry plantations it is still possible to collect tens of kilograms of berries a day, but few people do this even on their own, especially at the expense of expensive hired labor. Although the price for blackberries of the latest harvest is at the maximum level in the five years - 35-40 lei/kg ($1.95-2.22/kg). Many Moldovan berry farmers surveyed by EastFruit are skeptical about the prospects for active sales of late blackberries, in contrast to sales of late strawberries.
