Moldova's Berry Producers Association "Pomușoarele Moldovei" is facing a challenge as they have around 85-100 tons of frozen raspberries in warehouses, but the market price has dropped due to an influx of Ukrainian products at a lower price. Despite trying to sell at a minimum price of 4 euros/kg, they are unable to due to market conditions. The season has seen a 40% increase in exports compared to the previous season, with about 600 tons already exported from the 2022 harvest. The high cost of raw materials purchased in June and July has made the summer exports profitable, but the subsequent price drop and increase in electricity costs have led some producers to delay production, leading to financial risks. Some are mitigating this by purchasing expensive electricity generators.
