From February 11 to 27, Moldovan hazelnut producers will receive free business consultation from American volunteer Ross Penhallegon, as part of the USAID-funded Farmer-to-Farmer program and the CNFA Moldova program. Penhallegon, who has over 50 years of horticulture experience, will compile a pocket guide for growing hazelnuts and organize trainings on advanced pruning techniques in walnut orchards. He will also provide lectures to students of the State Agrarian University of Moldova and farmers about ecological system of growing hazelnuts. His primary assistance will be to members of the Organic Value Chain Alliance - MOVCA, including Euro Alun, who import several varieties of hazelnuts from the USA.
