The February 2024 report from TURKSTAT on poultry farming and dairy production presents a mixed picture for the sector. While there has been a monthly decrease in chicken egg and meat production by 5.7% and 0.7% respectively, the annual figures show substantial growth in chicken egg production (7.3%), slaughtered chickens (13.1%), chicken meat (14.6%), and turkey meat (31.2%) compared to the previous year. The first two months of 2024 also saw increases in these areas. On the dairy front, despite a 13.2% drop in drinking milk production from January to February and a slight decrease in cow milk collection, year-over-year figures for February indicate positive trends with increases in cow milk collection (13.1%), cow cheese production (10.6%), buttermilk (28.3%), yoghurt (16.6%), drinking milk (0.5%), and butter (20.1%).
