The Himachal Pradesh state government in India has reported a rise in milk procurement, attributed to higher prices, with a aim to boost the rural economy. The government is procuring cow milk at Rs 45 per litre and buffalo milk at Rs 55 per litre. To promote transparency, 455 automated milk collection centres have been set up across the state. The government has also initiated the 'Him Ganga Yojna' with an initial budget of Rs 500 crore, establishing new milk processing plants in Duttnagar and Dhagwar. Additionally, the government is promoting natural farming practices among farmers to reduce dependence on chemical farming.
