In 2024, the Moroccan fresh berry sector experienced a robust revival, overcoming challenges to hit record-breaking export levels. The first quarter alone saw a 20% surge in berry exports to 66,000 tonnes, led by blueberries and raspberries. Blueberry exports reached a high of 26,900 tonnes, while raspberries achieved 22,000 tonnes, and fresh blackberries surpassed 900 tonnes. The European Union and the United Kingdom continue to be the primary markets, absorbing 92% of exports, with the UK seeing a 25% increase. Moroccan exporters have also found success in Middle Eastern and European markets, including first-time exports to India. This growth demonstrates the sector's resilience and competitive edge, positioning Morocco as a leading global supplier of fresh berries.
