Morocco's blueberry industry has seen substantial growth since 2005, with production reaching 35,100 tons by 2020, a 19-fold increase. Despite challenges like water management and logistics, companies like SunCrops are gearing up for a successful season, with a focus on the European market and potential opportunities in Asia and the Middle East. The demand for Moroccan berries has surged, particularly in February and March, due to high demand and lower availability in the southern hemisphere. The country's advantageous 15-day transit time and the growth of blueberries as the 4th largest export income have led to Moroccan berries being exported to 37 foreign markets in the 2022-23 campaign.
