The US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service has reported that Grain crop development in Morocco for the 2024 harvest is facing challenging weather conditions, with dry and hot weather in January and February potentially reducing harvests to record lows, especially in the southern parts of Morocco. The forecast predicts a significant decrease in wheat production to 2.3 million tons, a 42% decrease from the 2023/2024 season, and a reduction in barley harvest to 0.65 million tons, a 53% decrease from the previous season. This will result in a substantial increase in wheat imports to 7.5 million tons, a 52% increase from the average of the previous ten seasons, and an increase in barley imports to 1.5 million tons.
