Zambézia province in Mozambique has an estimated cereal reserve of over 14,000 tons, including corn, rice, beans, and cash crops like sesame, which can supply the province for the next four months. An additional over 1,000 tons of various products are ready for processing. The province, which is the largest cereal-producing area in Mozambique, has surpluses and is expected to sell over 3.595 million tons of products this season, with current sales reaching over 3.119 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%. The Mozambique Cereal Institute is also conducting awareness campaigns to prevent farmers from withholding all of their production in hopes of higher prices. The province's food security is ensured through the production of tubers like cassava and sweet potatoes, especially in areas affected by 'El Nino'.
