According to Juan de Dios Hernández, President of ASAJA Murcia, "the causes of this reduction have been unstable weather, with a particular impact from the rains in March, the heavy presence of pests and diseases (thrips, red spider mite, lice...) with the scarce effectiveness of phytosanitary treatments due to the prohibition of active ingredients, as well as the poor quality of irrigation water in certain areas and the overproduction of the previous campaign, without adequate collection at the optimal time or no collection at all."
