The Istranca Forests in Turkey are experiencing a bountiful mushroom season, leading to a surge in interest from women to collect them for sale. The mushrooms, including the Sultan, bolet, and trumpet varieties, are sold to export companies at 150 to 200 lira per kilo and are primarily exported to Europe, especially Italy, France, and Germany. Women collectors find the activity enjoyable and profitable, with some earning as much as 7,000 liras in a day. Housewife Burcu Olcayok and Ayşe Çalışkan, who engage in mushroom picking, appreciate the exercise and the income it brings. The mushrooms' abundance this year has made it a rewarding experience for the collectors.
