President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commended his government's achievements in transforming Ghana's agricultural sector since 2017. He highlighted the success of the Programme for Planting for Food and Jobs, which has led to a 5.8% annual growth in agriculture, compared to the 2.7% growth in 2016. The government has also distributed over 1.4 million metric tonnes of fertilizers and 91,000MT of certified seeds, and launched the Planting for Export and Rural Development program to diversify exports. Additionally, the government has recruited more agricultural extension officers and approved the recruitment of 1,100 veterinary officers. The president also announced plans to build more warehouses, increase irrigable land, and approve credit guarantees for agricultural loans.
