Zhaila Town is a major supplier of tilapia to the Yangon market, having sent 55,000 and 68,000 tons in May and June respectively in 2024. The town's aquatic products are cleaned, packaged, and sent to the market, with tilapia making up the majority of the shipments. The town's owner of an aquatic product trading station stated that the Yangon market offers good prices and direct transportation for their products. The tilapia can be farmed or wild-caught and is priced at around 9,000 Myanmar Kyats per ton.
