Kazakhstani producers of rapeseed oil are encountering difficulties in exporting to China due to undeclared GMOs. This issue has persisted for three years, leading to the return of shipments and financial losses. The lack of GMO analysis laboratories in Kazakhstan and the country's prohibition on GMO cultivation contribute to the problem. The National Association of Oilseed Processors plans to address this issue by sending an official letter to the Ministry of Trade and Integration, while a working group has been established to boost exports to China. This problem was raised at the FOC: Fats and Oils Conference in June 2022, highlighting the ongoing challenges in trade relations between Kazakhstan and China.
