[Korea Fisheries News Reporter Young-jin Choi] The National Institute of Fisheries Science announced that it held a workshop titled "Establishing Sustainable Productivity Improvement Measures for the National Clam" at the Tidal Flat Research Center on the 18th. The workshop was organized to explore response measures following a 70% decrease in clam production compared to the 80,000 tons in the late 1980s. Presentations were made on the current status of tidal flat clam fishing and predictions of resource fluctuations due to climate change, as well as on improving seed productivity. Comprehensive discussions also included improvement measures for the use and management of village fishing grounds. The workshop was hosted by National Assembly members Won-taek Lee, Jun-byung Yoon, Ho-seon Lim, Geum-ju Moon, and Byung-jin Lee from the Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, Food, Ocean and Fisheries Committee.
