Imported vegetables and salads from countries like Australia, UK, and Japan are becoming popular among the wealthy in Vietnam, despite their high price which is 5-7 times more than local products. The high cost is due to the high quality, rarity, and high transportation costs as these products are perishable and require air freight. In the first 10 months of the year, Vietnam spent over 1.2 billion USD on importing vegetables and fruits, marking a 14.6% increase from the previous year. Despite the high price, demand for these products is expected to continue to grow, and importers are looking for ways to reduce costs to make them more affordable.
