The article reports on the potato harvest in North-Western Europe, focusing on Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and France. Due to a late start to the season, Belgium experienced a 7% decrease in potato yields, totaling 42.8 tonnes per hectare. In spite of this setback, the EU-4 region saw a 6.6% increase in potato production compared to the previous year, largely due to higher production in France. While the total harvest size increased, the yield per hectare across the region slightly decreased by 1.4%. The Dutch harvest came in at 3.38 million tonnes, marginally above last year's figure but below the five-year average. The cost of cultivation in the Netherlands has risen by at least 1,000 euros per hectare due to increased expenses on phytophthora control and storage.
