The article highlights the maintenance of the yellowfin tuna catch limit at 110,000 tonnes. For the first time, the status of skipjack tuna in the western Atlantic Ocean was evaluated, leading to the establishment of new regulations to be implemented by 2026. These regulations include deadlines for closing fisheries using tuna concentration tools and limitations on the number of these tools in use. The initiative also aims to manage and conserve various fish species, such as swordfish and sharks, with AtlantNIRO delegates backing a ban on shark finning proposed by 35 countries. Russia is among the supporters of the initiative, emphasizing the importance of shark stock preservation.
