A new case of bird flu has been reported in a farmyard near Vouziers, France, adding to the outbreak that began in November 2020 and led to the slaughter of over 3.5 million poultry. The initial case was identified in a neighboring farmyard and the disease has since spread to Belgium and Luxembourg. In response, the department of Aisne has implemented measures including the sheltering of poultry and a ban on bird gatherings, while maintaining free movement of poultry with increased vigilance. The outbreak has raised the risk level from negligible to moderate, but France still retains its status as a country free of influenza.
