Three new dams are being built in Kandahar province, southern Afghanistan, to address the severe water shortage caused by years of drought. The dams, located in the province's Shah Vali Kot and Sipin Boldak districts, are expected to irrigate over two million acres of agricultural land, potentially ending water scarcity in the region. The project, commissioned by the Taliban religious leader Mullah Hibetullah Ahundzade, aims to revitalize the region, which has seen decreased agricultural production due to the drought.
