In August 2023, Spain experienced a significant decrease in the prices of sheep's and goat's milk. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) reported that the weighted average price of sheep's milk dropped by 8% to 1.405 euros/litre, while goat's milk price fell by 15.32% to 0.851 euros/litre. Additionally, there was a slight decrease in production for both types of milk and a notable reduction in the number of farmers producing these milks. Sheep's milk production was down 0.5% to 41.25 million litres, and the number of producers fell by 7.74% to 2,504. Goat's milk production decreased by 6.11% to 33.26 million litres, and the number of producers also decreased by 8.63% to 3,771.
