Spain 03/15/2024 At a recent meeting in Rovigo, Italy, the Garlic Contact Group, made up of sector leaders and representatives of the administrations of France, Italy and Spain, adopted the proposal presented by ANPCA, the National Association of Garlic Producers and Traders, aiming to implement authorizations of plant protection products at regional level rather than by each Member State. This measure aims to expand the availability of phytosanitary products, thus facing the challenge of reducing the availability of these products for garlic cultivation. Proposal aims to implement authorizations of plant protection products at regional level rather than by each Member State. Currently, Regulation 1107/2009 divides Europe into 3 phytosanitary zones for these authorizations, zone C being the one which brings together southern countries such as Spain, France, Greece and Italy.
