Peru's blueberry sector has seen significant growth, with a 30% increase in the past years, reaching over 287,000 tons last season. This growth has led to increased demand for various services and products, such as plants, substrates, and containers. There has been a shift from traditional soil cultivation to hydroponic systems, which require more initial investment but can reduce maintenance costs and water usage. The number of hectares dedicated to blueberry cultivation in Peru has grown from 1,900 in 2016 to over 17,900 in 2022. Additionally, there has been a decrease in the cultivation of the Biloxi variety, with an increase in the adoption of new varieties and hydroponic systems.
