Kiwifruit exports from New Zealand saw a significant increase of 20% in the year ending August 2024, reaching a value of $3.1 billion, as reported by Stats NZ. This represents a $524 million increase compared to the previous year. The surge was primarily due to higher exports of yellow kiwifruit, which increased by 24% to $2.4 billion, and green kiwifruit, which increased by 9.9% to $737 million. The rise in yellow kiwifruit exports was driven by a 23% increase in quantity, while the increase in green kiwifruit exports was largely due to a 9.0% rise in price. China is the main market for yellow kiwifruit, while the European Union is the primary destination for green kiwifruit.
