The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security in Nigeria, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, has announced an injection of N309 billion into the economy through successful dry season farming and other initiatives. The ministry has distributed large quantities of improved seeds, seedlings, and agrochemicals, and has established infrastructure for livestock production and animal health. Despite these efforts, the minister acknowledged challenges such as high cost of tomatoes due to a severe infestation. The government is engaging producers to address the issue of foreign exchange for fertilizer production.
