Nigeria aims to rank among the top three potato-producing nations globally by 2025, according to State Minister of Agriculture Mustapha Baba Shehuri. This announcement was made during the inaugural international conference and exhibition on the potato value chain and root crops in Jos, Plateau state. Shehuri also emphasized the government's commitment to preventing food crises following the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted Nigeria's leadership in the cultivation of various root and tuber crops in Africa, positioning the country as the seventh largest producer of ware potatoes.
