[Agricultural, Fisheries and Livestock Products Newspaper=Reporter Kim Jin-oh] The Korea Food Research Institute (Director Baek Hyun-dong) announced on the 18th that it will transfer the "Hyperspectral Image Data Analysis Program," which can analyze materials in a non-destructive and non-contact manner, to the private sector and promote its commercialization. Hyperspectral image data, which includes information from hundreds of wavelengths, allows for more precise analysis of samples compared to traditional black and white or color (RGB) images. Particularly, it can determine internal components, freshness, and the presence of foreign substances without causing damage, making it a technology that is attracting attention as a replacement for conventional chemical and destructive testing methods. The Food Research Institute plans to use this technology for beef quality analysis, gochugaru (Korean red pepper powder) quality assessment, and more.
