After two decades of false promises from the state on the issue of restoring looted irrigation systems, exactly a year ago the leadership of the National Association of Grain Producers (NAGP) established seven committees, involving representatives from the 28 regions of Bulgaria. On a voluntary basis, members of the organization joined these committees and began active work on creating draft legislation in the areas of land relations, irrigation, cooperation, and other issues problematic for the sector. The goal of the committees is to reach legislative decisions through discussions with state institutions that will unblock the chambers of unresolved issues in which the agricultural sector is mired.
