Norway's seafood exports reached a new record of NOK 109 billion in the first nine months of the year, with a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. The third quarter saw the highest ever export value of NOK 39 billion. Salmon accounts for 72% of the value in the third quarter. The EU, Poland, Denmark, and France are the main markets for salmon. The trout market also showed strong growth, with a record quarter for exports. However, there was a decrease in volume and value for fresh and frozen cod fillet products. The export value of frozen cod has never been higher in the third quarter, due to record high export prices. Despite high prices, there is continued demand for Norwegian mackerel in Asia, especially in Japan. King crab exports have seen a decline due to increased imports of Russian king crab and logistical challenges. Prawn fishing in the Barents Sea resulted in the highest export volume of prawn in the third quarter since 2005.
