Norwegian cod prices soar again, market on edge

According to UCN, in the 39th week of September, the CIF China price of Norwegian cod was assessed to increase by another $200 per ton. Several Chinese processing companies stated, "The price has risen almost in the blink of an eye," with no signs of weakening in the market. At the Norwegian Rafisklag auction, the on-board price of cod in the 1–2.5 kg specification reached a record high in the 38th week, directly pushing up the import price in China. The price of Russian cod in the 1–2 kg specification remained relatively stable, but the upper and lower limits of the range were adjusted. Despite this, buyers from China admitted, "We said we wouldn't exceed $7,000, $8,000, or $9,000, but the price has been approaching $10,000, and we are still forced to buy."
