In 2022, Norwegian seafood exports reached a record high of 2.9 million tons valued at US$15.29 billion, marking a 25% increase from the previous year. This achievement was made despite challenges such as lower export volumes of several species due to adverse conditions and quotas. Salmon accounted for 70% of the total export value. The devaluation of the Norwegian krone also had a favorable effect on export prices. However, the future of export growth is uncertain due to factors such as the war in Ukraine, trade barriers, the pandemic, and rising fuel and energy costs.
