Norway and the EU have reached an agreement on a quota exchange and access to fishing in each other’s zones for 2023. The agreement, which has been praised by the Norwegian Fishermen’s Association and Fisheries and Oceans Minister Bjørnar Skjæran, includes bilateral quota agreements for the North Sea, Skagerrak, and a neighborhood agreement with the EU on Sweden. The agreement also includes a ban on cross-border fishing in the Skagerrak from 1 January 2024 and strengthened reporting requirements.
