In July, the export of herring from Norway saw a 19% increase in value but a 2% decrease in volume compared to the same month last year. The Netherlands, Poland, and Lithuania were the leading markets. Despite the usual trend of lower exports in July, this year's exports were higher than in April, May, and June. The price of frozen whole North Sea herring rose by 21% from last year to NOK 19.66/kg this year, and record prices were set for other herring products. The main factor contributing to the high prices is the low herring quota, alongside high prices for flour and oil.
