Tridge summary

From January to August 2021, Bulgaria experienced a notable increase in the import of fresh vegetables and fruits, with tomatoes and cucumbers leading the surge. The country's self-produced vegetables and fruits volumes also saw an uptick, despite a decrease in potato and carrot imports. Citrus fruits and bananas dominated the import of fresh fruits, while the export of fresh vegetables saw a significant rise, largely due to increased tomato, cucumber, and pepper exports. However, the export of sweet corn and legumes experienced a decline. The Bulgarian economy also served as a hub for the re-export of various fresh fruits, including citrus fruits, to other countries.
